Last month, Ph.D. Candidate, Monica Pennewitt attended the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Society of Nematologists held on The Ohio State University campus in Columbus, OH. At the conference, she was recognized as a recipient of a travel award sponsored by the United Soybean Board and won first place in the student oral paper competition! When asked about her experience, Pennewitt said, “The best part about attending the annual SON meeting is getting to reconnect with old friends and build new connections for future collaborations! It was especially great to visit with everyone from the lab I worked in as an undergraduate, which helped me gain valuable experience and find my passion for plant pathology and nematology.” Several departmental alums also attended and presented at the conference.
