Joe Wheelock graduated in 2014 with degrees in Entomology and Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University. He worked under guidance of Dr. Matt O’Neal and focusing primarily on pollinator communities and interactions with corn and soybean crops throughout Iowa. Prior to Iowa State, he received his Bachelor’s in Biology and Environmental Studies at Luther College in 2011.
He has always had a strong passion for sustainability and environmental causes. In the recent episode titled The Land Institute and the Heartland Tree Alliance from the PBS series My World Too, Joe discusses the importance of strategic tree planting for environmental justice in Kansas City.
His segment focuses on Joe’s efforts of environmental justice, strategic planning, social impact, and future vision in Kansas City’s urban landscape and tree planting with Heartland Tree Alliance.
