Aaron Gassmann is a professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, Entomology and Microbiology at Iowa State University, with research and teaching responsibilities in the area of entomology, specifically integrated pest management, insect resistance management, and plant-insect interactions. His research focuses on interactions between insect pests and corn. Dr. Gassmann joined the faculty at Iowa State University in 2008. Prior to that, he completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Entomology at the University of Arizona, and the Department of Entomology at the University of California, Riverside. He has a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Gassmann has written 84 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and 6 book chapters, presented 52 invited seminars and symposia, coauthored 176 presentations at professional meetings, and contributed to more than 275 outreach publications and presentations. In 2021 he was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
