Aline Sartor Chicowski

  • Graduate Assistant-Research
Aline is an Agronomist and a Ph.D. Candidate in Plant Pathology with a minor in Genetics & Genomics under Dr. Steven Whitham. Her research projects are focused on the molecular interactions of soybean and Phakopsora pachyrhizi, the fungus causing Asian soybean rust (ASR). Specifically, her Ph.D. research is focused on understanding the molecular functions of candidate effectors produced by the soybean rust fungus, aiming to gain better insight into the molecular basis of the interactions of soybean and ASR to potentially develop strategies to produce disease-resistant plants.
