George Samantsidis
Position
- Postdoc Research Associate
I obtained my Ph.D. at University of Crete, Greece, where I investigated insecticide resistance mechanisms in insects of medical and agricultural concern.
I joined Smith's lab, at Iowa State University, as a postdoc in May 2022 and my research here focuses on mosquito-pathogens interactions. In particular, we try to elucidate the functions and mechanisms that hemocytes, the principal immune cells of mosquitoes, employ against pathogen and parasite survival.
