The research of Dr. Robert E. Lewis (1929-2017) focused on parasite/host relationships, with much of his research dedicated to studying fleas (Siphonaptera). While he was a professor at Iowa State University, in addition to publishing numerous works on geographical distribution, host preference and morphology of ectoparasitic arthropods he helped curate the Insect Collection and produced the Flea News newsletter.
