Dr. Rowley's research involved insects of public health importance, specifically the biology, physiology, and vector-agent interactions of mosquitoes and ticks. He worked with the natural history of Lyme disease and the deer tick in the upper Midwest and mosquito encephalitis virus activity. His research also included flight behavior and how it is modified by interactions with microorganisms vectored by mosquitoes. He retired in 2004.
